About the book
OTHER brings together poems written between 2013 and 2025 and is Konstantin Fischer’s first published poetry collection. Through these poems, Fischer explores the experience of otherness from different perspectives, drawing extensively on personal experience, intergenerational memory and trauma, as well as on events and circumstances he has witnessed.
In a spare, direct and reflective poetic voice, the personal meets the collective. The memory of the Holocaust, migration, war, power relations, exclusion and difference converge around a fundamental question: what does it mean to experience oneself — or to be perceived by others — as “other”?
The collection moves between intimate experience and wider historical and social realities, approaching poetry as a space where memory can be preserved, trauma articulated, and different human experiences brought into dialogue.
